Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I share my sewing journey and all the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
My name is Kate and I got my sewing machine in late 2021, when I got that I-think-I-could-enjoy-doing-that feeling. Once my machine arrived, I stowed it behind the bed and didn’t even unpack it for at least half a year, fully aware of all the previous hobbies I enjoyed for a while and then discarded once I got the hang of it. I finally unpacked my machine and made some baby clothes – and just like that, I was hooked.
It was definitely a learning curve, especially when it came to figuring out the differences between fabrics. It did not help that I am Czech, live in the Netherlands and all the patterns I was using were written in English. I may or may not have made the error of buying “ribstof” when the pattern asked for ribbing… well, that did not go well. Ribbing is actually called “boordstof” and “ribstof” is a woven corduroy fabric. Oh well, you live and you learn to order samples when ordering online (and going to a physical store when possible).
I’ve come a long way since then and for the past year or so I’ve been sharing some of my makes on instagram. This website is a work in progress but I have a lot of fun ideas, so keep an eye out for future posts!
Until then take care and remember…
finished is better than perfect!
